Cooperation and Partnerships
One of the ways we guarantee that our courses remain practically relevant and true to life is by cooperating with partners - media companies, NGOs, governmental organisations, as well as other educational institutions. This page shows our current partners, a list that is constantly growing. Every partnership is unique. Often an actual project is emphasised, in which a team of our students work for a real-life customer. The interaction with their lecturers and teachers in real-life applications prepares the students for the daily working life in media companies.
University of Regensburg
Since summer 2017, we have taken part in an active exchange programme with the University of Regensburg. This programme started with the conference, "Film/Image/Emotion", which was followed by a detailed publication. The cooperation of film history and film theory is represented by the Vice President of DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien, Prof. Dr. Marcus Stiglegger, and Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Wagner from the Department of Art History in Regensburg. Rolf Teigler, professor of Film and Television at DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien is also involved as expert in the field of media ecology. This collaboration ensures an interdisciplinary Bachelor-level exchange which encourages discourse.
US Embassy Berlin
In 2018 DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien started a partnership with the US embassy in Berlin and an international exchange between students from DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien and American filmmakers was initiated. Aside from film screenings and discussions about current sociopolitical issues, we also plan events at the US embassy. This collaboration is also supported by other partners of the US embassy, enabling an interdisciplinary exchange.
German Hygiene Museum Dresden
The journalism students supported the racism exhibition at the German Hygiene Museum (Deutsche Hygiene Museum) in Dresden and subsequently founded the project "Deutschland, wir müssen reden" (Germany, we have to talk). Under the guidance of Journalism and PR professor John A. Kantara, they produced two interview films that will be screened from May 2018 until January 2019 in conjunction with the exhibition "Rassismus - Die Erfindung von Menschenrassen" (Racism - an invention of the human race).
Prominent figures from film, radio and television as well as representatives of various institutions were interviewed for this project.
The Berlin-based Landau Media GmbH & Co.KG is one of the leading media observation and media-resonance analysis companies in Germany. With their 280 employees Landau Media provides media analyses and press reviews of print media, online media (including social media), television, radio and news agencies. The company, which was founded by Lothar Landau, Uwe Mommert and Michael Busch, has been successful in this market for 20 years. Aside from their headquarters in Berlin, they also have representatives in Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hamburg.

The project MINT THE GAP was started in collaboration with the Technische Universität Berlin. They focus on less popular subjects among students, namely MINT courses: Mathematics, Informatics, Sciences Naturwissenschaften) and Technology. This joint venture with the journalism students from DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien serves to promote science journalism. By preparing contributions on science themes, the students are exposed to the possibilities in this profession. They can also find out more about graduate courses in the science field and establish initial contacts.
Every month, DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien students produce their own 15-minute transmission, called "StraightForward". StraightForward s then broadcast on the local television station, tv.berlin. The project is part of the Film and Television study program but also open for interested students from other programs.
Together with the research network for Regional Climate change (REKLIM) our students created an extensive media campaign during the international REKLIM conference in 2014. The cooperation continued and so far students have produced more than ten film clips and short films on climatic change and environmental protection. Also, Film and Television students created a REKLIM panel with lectures and films at Berlinale Festival 2017 and 2018.
Szczecin Film Festival
Every year, a team of students visits the Szczecin European Film Festival and reports their experiences online. Students wrote the following about the Szczecin European Film Festival of Autumn 2015: The film event on the German-Polish border was a forum for connecting and cooperation in the film industry. This festival showed the latest trends in artistic image and sound processing. The focus was the transgression of formal boundaries between perception and reality - a wide spectrum which was complemented by the rich accompanying program, from classic documentaries to modern experiments with picture and sound.
DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien, together with Reduta Acting School, presents seminars on acting. Our students attend rehearsals and performances of the acting school and we stage joint primary productions.
Valerian Film GmbH is a reliable partner with local experience. They support us with on-site information and production services and they also offer financing options. Valerian Film can request funds from the Deutsche Filmförderfonds (DFFF - German Film Funding association) and they have valuable connections with national and European film financiers as well as with German studios and television broadcasters.

The camera and film rental company, See you rent, closely collaborates with DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien and offers internships for our students.
Deutsches Klima Konsortium
Students from DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien produced different practical media projects in preparation for the Pre-briefing conference of COP21 in Paris 2015.
Rixfilm has also actively supported students of DEKRA Hochschule für Medien in the past. For example, they sponsored and co-produced 3 short films and also shot a web series together with us.
Marketing Club Berlin
DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien, together with the Marketing Club Berlin, hosts a yearly marketing conference with the title Media, Marketing and More. The slogan of the 2017 conference, which was partly planned, conceptualised and implemented by our students, was: Fan, Fighter, Follower.
Riccarda Merten-Eicher - Costume design
The costume designer Riccarda Merten-Eicher imparts her vast experience to the students of DEKRA Hochschule für Medien and advises them when necessary. She makes her expertise available to the students during filming.
