Presentation at the “Strategies Beyond Borders – Transforming Higher Education in a Digital Age” conference

Dr. Petyo Budakov presented DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien at the “Strategies Beyond Borders – Transforming Higher Education in a Digital Age” conference which took place at Allianz Forum in Berlin on 9th and 10th December 2019.

Dr. Petyo Budakov presented DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien at the “Strategies Beyond Borders – Transforming Higher Education in a Digital Age” conference which took place at Allianz Forum in Berlin on 9th and 10th December 2019.

The conference was initiated and organized by the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and aimed to shed light upon the latest strategies for teaching and learning in a digital age. HFD and DAAD support actively academic institutions in their strategic development through a variety of funding programs as well as encouraging international collaboration and partnership between universities and other stakeholders. Furthermore, the conference exposed some good practices which was funded by the ERASMUS+ program – which is the European Commission's Programme for education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014–2020, succeeding the previous Lifelong Learning Programme.

Dr. Petyo Budakov pitched the latest initiatives and all preparatory measures promoted by DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien in order to establish and develop a coherent internationalization strategy which reflects digitalization of its infrastructure a and paving the way for a future blended learning programs and internationalization. Dr. Budakov aired that “The digitalisation of higher education is an important strategic field that has become increasingly important in recent years. Therefore, as a leading university of applied sciences, DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien offers ample mobility opportunities for faculty and student exchange and teaching courses in English in order to add an international perspective to study programs as well as developing its digital infrastructure”.

DEKRA | Hochschule für Medien participates in ERASMUS+ program and supports students who want to study, research or plan an internship aboard with an own Career Service. However, through the workshop "Students as innovators in strategy processes on digitalization in higher education", participants were introduced with ideas and experiences in terms of developing formats on how students’ opinions can be integrated in innovation processes. Student representatives could receive a larger role in decision making processes in institutions that focus on digitalisation and innovation for higher education institutions.

Finally, the conference offered excellent opportunities for networking and fostering the collaboration between German and foreign academic institutions in terms of developing joint blended programs and effectively digitalizing their university infrastructure.
